Parsley

Parsley is a hardy herb that is easy to grow. It is considered a biennial, since it will usually flower and produce seeds the second year, but in colder climates, it is treated as an annual.
Start your parsley seeds indoors 4-6 weeks before the last frost date or directly outside in early spring. Parsley can take up to 3 weeks to germinate, and require light, so they should not be covered. You can help speed up germination a bit by soaking the seeds overnight in tepid water. Space your seeds 4-6” apart and thin as they grow.
Parsley can do well in any type of soil, but the better the soil, the easier it will be to grow the plant to a good size in order to harvest. Pick an area to plant outside that is in full sun to partial shade.
Little maintenance is needed for parsley, especially if the plant is well mulched to help with water retention and limit weeds. Parsley can be harvested any time of year, especially if growing indoors. For the best taste, pick your parsley early in the morning and use it fresh. If unable to be used right away, consider freezing, rather than drying your parsley.
Parsley is more susceptible to pests, especially aphids, spider mites, and caterpillars (not all of them bad!), and when harvesting, the leaves should be well inspected and cleaned.
